Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum

It was constructed in 14th century by the Conqueror Amir Timur. This family crypt, an architectural complex, contains the tombs of Amir Temur, Ulugh Beg, Muhammad Sultan, Timur’s master Sayyid Baraka and other Timurids.    

Registan Square

Registan Square consists of Ulugh Beg (15th century), Sher-Dar and Tilya-Qari madrasahs (17th century). It is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.  

Memorial Complex of al-Bukhari

The place of the pilgrimage (shrine) is related to the personality of the sultan of hadith collectors, author of the hadith collections known as al-Jami as-Sahih and al-Adab al-Mufrad, Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ismail. It is located in the village of Hartang, Samarkand province.

Mausoleum of Imam al-Maturidi

The mausoleum, dedicated to the founder of the school of theology ‘Maturidism’, Muhammad ibn Mahmud al-Hanafi, was constructed in the area of Chokardiza cemetery in 2000.

Afrasiab Museum of Samarkand

The museum was established in the city of Afrasiab in 1970 and covers the Sogdian history ranging from the 8th-7th centuries BC to 7th-8th centuries CE.

Mausoleum of Mahmud Azam

Mahmudi Azam Mosque, located in the village of Dakhbit, is associated with the name of Khwaja Ahmad Kasani. This memorial was built in the 17th century.

Observatory and Museum of Ulugh Beg

The observatory was constructed on Kukhak hills in the 15th century. The museum, associated with the personality of Ulugh Beg, was established in Samarkand in 1964.  

Madrasah and Mausoleum of Saray Mulk Khanum

The shrine is associated with the chief consort of Timur, Saray Mulk Khanum (Bibi Khanum).This complex was built in the 15th century.

Khoja Akhrar Wali

Khoja Akhrar Wali monument dates back to 15th century. The complex consists of a madrasah, mosque, minaret and a pool.

Hazrat Khizr Mosque

The first Islamic mosque ever built in Samarkand by Qutayba ibn Muslim in the 8th century.  

Chorsu

Chorsu is a historical monument, located in the central part of Samarkand. It was constructed in late 14th century and is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.  

Shahi Zinda Mausoleum Complex

Shahi Zinda is linked with the name of Kusam ibn Abbas (r.a.), companion and a cousin of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the son of Abbas, uncle of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He was buried there. The monument was built in the 11th century. At the entrance part, there is a mosque constructed by Ulugh Beg in the 15th century. 

Itchan Kala

Itchan Kala is an open sky museum in Khiva which is the complex of 54 madrasahs, mosques and shrines. It was registered in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites List in 1990. The 2500th anniversary of Khiva was celebrated in 1997.

Khorezm Mamun Academy

The scientific institution named as “Dar al-Hikma va al-Ma’arif” was built by Khorezm Shah Mamun in Urgench in 1004. The Khorezm Mamun Academy was reestablished in Khiva in 2006.
